How to use the Pilkington Calculators

Click each Step for details.

Sun Management Calculator

  • Step 1: Exterior Appearance

    • Select a color. This color will define the exterior appearance of the window.

      Scroll down for more color options.

    • 1) The window graphic displays an approximation of the selected color.

      2) A list details the Pilkington glass products available with the selected color.

    • Change the exterior appearance by selecting another color, or tap Next to continue to Step 2.

  • Step 2: Exterior Glass

    • Select a glass product for the exterior.

      Scroll down for more glass product options.

    • Tap an item to see more details about the product and to view Project References showing that glass in use.

      Tap the Back arrow to return to Step 1.

  • Project References

    • Scroll through existing projects that feature specific Pilkington glass products.

    • Tap “View on Web” to open that Project Reference page in your browser.

      Tap the Back arrow to return to the Sun Management Calculator.

    • Change the glass by selecting another glass product, or tap Next to continue to Step 3.

  • Step 3: Outboard Thickness

    • Select a thickness for the exterior glass.

      Scroll down to see more available thicknesses.

    • Tap Next to continue to Step 4.

  • Step 4: Glazing

    • Select Single Glazing to build an Single Glazed Unit.

      Select Air or Argon to build a Double Glazed Unit with either gas as a fill.

    • Change your selection or tap Next.

      If you selected Single Glazing, tapping Next will show the Results page.

      If you selected Double Glazing, tapping Next will continue to Step 5.

  • Step 5: Inboard Lite

    • Select a glass product for the interior lite.

      Scroll down to see more available products.

    • Tap an item to see more details about the product.

      Change your selection or tap Next to continue to Step 6.

  • Step 6: Inboard Thickness

    • Select an available thickness for the interior glass.

    • Change your selection or tap Finish to see the Results page.

    • Summary

      • Inboard Glazing (product and thickness)

      Tap Email Results to send the Results page to a colleague.

    • Enter the Recipient Email address. Separate multiple addresses with a comma.

      Enter your first and last name and email address, as well as any message.

      Tap Send Now to send the Results.

    • Open in TSC

      Tap Open in TSC to send your selections to the Thermal Stress Calculator.

    • The Thermal Stress Calculator requires further information to complete its calculations.

      Tap Next to continue to the TSC with the existing selections.

Thermal Stress Calculator

  • Step 1: Select Glazing

    • Select Single Glazing to build an Single Glazed Unit.

      Select Air or Argon to build a Double Glazed Unit with either gas as a fill.

    • Change your selection or tap Next to continue to Step 2.

  • Step 2: Select a manufacturer for the exterior glass.

    • Double Glazed Units must include at least one Pilkington product.

    • Change your selection or tap Next to continue to glass products.

    • Select a glass product for the exterior.

      Scroll down to see more available products.

    • Change your selection or tap Next to continue.

    • Select exterior glass surface.

      Tap Surface #1 or Surface #2 to flip the glass.

      Change your selection or tap Next to continue to Step 3.

      If you are building a Single Glazed Unit, you will go to Step 4.

  • Step 3: Select a manufacturer for the interior glass.

    • Double Glazed Units must include at least one Pilkington product.

    • Change your selection or tap Next to continue to glass products.

    • Select a glass product of the interior.

      Scroll down for more available products.

    • Change your selection or tap Next to continue.

    • Select interior glass surface.

      Tap Surface #3 or Surface #4 to flip the glass.

      Change your selection or tap Next to continue to Step 4.

  • Step 4: Location/Environment

    • Tap to see more details about each location.

      Change your selection or tap Next to continue to Step 5.

  • Step 5: Horizontal Overhang

    • Select the horizontal overhang for the frame.

      If the depth of the overhang is unknown, select Unknown (Worst Case)

    • Change your selection or tap Next to continue.

    • Select the vertical depth for the frame.

      Scroll down for more options.

      If the vertical depth is unknown, select Unknown (Worst Case)

    • Change your selection or tap Next to continue.

    • Select the frame color.

      If the frame color is unknown, select Unknown (Worst Case)

    • Change your selection or tap Next to see the Results page.
